EAST WORCESTER – Florence Rifenburgh, 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.
She was born July 1, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Werner) Hochreiter.
She married the love of her life, Alfred B. Rifenburgh on February 27, 1941; together they shared 50 wonderful years. Alfred predeceased her on December 10, 1991.
Florence ran the Ace Glove Shop in Richmondville for many years with her husband. Then was a supervisor for Glovermasters Inc. in Richmondville.
She is survived by her two children, Alfred T. "Bud" (Anne Marie) Rifenburgh of Worcester, and Patricia M. Myers of Lexington Park, MD; seven grandchildren, Christine A. (Ronald) Benson, Thomas B. Rifenburgh and Katrina M. Rifenburgh, all of Worcester, Megan Rifenburgh of Cobleskill, Denise Gontarek of California, MD, David (Colleen) Myers of Dameron MD, Brenda (Erik) Johnson of Papillion, NE; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Butler. She will be dearly missed by all her knew her.
Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel in Worcester.
The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Messner, officiating.
Interment will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the East Worcester Cemetery.
