DAVENPORT – Floyd H. "Bob" McAdams, 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born February 9, 1935 in Cooks Falls, NY, the son of Frank and Iona (Hunt) McAdams and was raised on the family farm.

Bob was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a night guard for the Medical Compound and by day drove the ambulance.

He worked for the Franklin Highway Department for many years and then for 27 years at the NYS Department of Transportation in Otsego County, retiring as a Highway Supervisor.

Through out Bob's life he had several active stone quarries, where he cut flagstone. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed giving away his produce and donating his largest pumpkins to the Stamford School and to the Schenevus-Worcester Rotary.

He is survived by his daughters, Carol Ann McAdams of Cobleskill and Stephanie McAdams of Davenport; grandsons, Travis Edwin Floyd McAdams and Gavin Christman; his dearest friend, Betty McWherter of Franklin and her daughter, Nancy and Mike Carroll of Franklin; his sisters, Laura "Sally" and Denver Unfleet of Arkansas and Elsie and Don Ritz of Franklin; a dear family friend, Connie Schultes; many nieces, nephews, cousins, good friends, great neighbors and his beloved cat, Timmy.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth "Bessie" McAdams in 2002 and his sister, Emma Mae Barber.

Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. A reception will follow at the Davenport Fire Hall.

A graveside service with military honors will be at the Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin 10 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2014.
