ONEONTA – Frances B. Mattice, 86, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, with her family by her side.
She was born November 6, 1927 in Oneonta, the youngest of nine, to George and Ella (Alger) Beams.
Fran married John E. Mattice on October 2, 1945 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Oneonta.
She was the office manger at Empire Live Stock in Oneonta for 30 years, retiring in 1987.
Fran was a life long member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She served as an Elder, Trustee and served on the Alter Guild. She was the second of five generations of members of the "Red Door Church". Fran's family and church were everything to her.
She is survived by her children, Debbie and Bob Archer of Maryland, David and Connie Mattice of Oneonta, John Jr. and Pam Mattice of Laurens, Melissa "Lisa" and Chris Carvin of Oneonta; grandchildren, Carol and Adam Pierce, Daniel and Kim Mattice, Samantha Mattice, and Christopher Carvin; great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Andrew Pierce, Kylie Mattice and Kara Mattice; sisters-in-law, Minnie Beams and Joyce Stone and many nieces, nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John on December 5, 2010; her parents, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at the First United Presbyterian Church "Red Door Church", 2 Walling Ave., Oneonta, followed by a reception in the church social hall.
A private burial will be at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
