Obituary

Worcester NY- Frances Stevens, 76, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY from congestive heart failure.

She was born on July 6, 1938, in Worcester, NY, the daughter of Charles and Ada Bell (Burton) Morell.

She married Howard "Ike" George Stevens II on November 22,1953, in Worcester. He predeceased her on August 12, 2008.

Frances and Howard had five boys and one girl, and many other children they raised. Their surviving children, Howard Stevens III, Gerald and Sandra Stevens, Milton and Rebecca Stevens, Andrea and Kevin Norton, Myron and Kathleen Stevens, Donald Stevens, all of Worcester; adopted sons, Ed, Barry and Lester Chase; brothers and sisters, Helen and the late, Donald Rittlinger of Oneonta, the late, Alonzo "Boots" and the late, Alice Morell, the late, Kitty Mae Morell, all of Worcester, Pearl and Richard Loucks, Charles "Jim" Morell, Jr. of Richmondville, Anna and the late, Jim Leonard of Unadilla, Harold "Blondie" and Charlene Morell of Worcester, the late, Lena Morell of Worcester; brother-in-law, Walter "Bill" Stevens. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, with one on the way; many nieces and nephews.

Frances was always giving and asked nothing in return. She was firey at times but compassionate. She lived the farmers life with her family. Family is what she lived for, family was her life. She always had homemade bread, molasses cookies and donuts, which were gone before they done. She had a hard life but never complained. She gave a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Mom/Grandma got her wings made her journey, and is reunited with Dad/Grandpa, who I am sure is waiting with open arms. She was surrounded by family who made sure she knew she was loved and would be missed. While our hearts break for not getting to spend another day with her, we take comfort in knowing she is in a better place with grandpa right by her side.

Calling hours will be 1 pm to 2 pm Saturday March 21, 2015 with service at 2 pm at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St, Worcester, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating. The burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester at a later date.
