Obituary

ONEONTA – Francis John Pusateri, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2009 at his home.

He was born June 26, 1924 in Worcester, MA, the son of Vincent and Rose (Ramondi) Pusateri.

At the age of 18, Fran joined the United States Navy, serving from 1942-1945 as a radio operator. During World War II, while out at sea, he courageously saved the life of a friend and fellow seaman who fell over board.

Fran moved from Worcester, MA to Mt. View, CA to work for Fairchild's and then Apple Computer.

While living in California he met Jenny Knoll, whom he married June 29, 1973 in Carmel, CA.

Fran and Jenny would spend their summers in Oneonta and returning to Mt. View, CA in the autumn.

While in Oneonta, he attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a member of the Oneonta Elks Club. When he lived in Worcester, MA, he volunteered his time as manager of the Worcester Hawks, although the baseball team he loved the best was the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jenny Pusateri; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his eight brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 1 p.m. to the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Gwen Purushotham, Fran's niece and the pastor of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Nashua, NH, officiating.

Services will continue at the Roller-Hapgood & Tinney Funeral Home in Palo Alto, CA. Interment with military honors will be at the Alta Mesa Memorial Park, in Palo Alto, CA.
