DECATUR - Frank John Pavlick, 92, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.
He was born on November 28, 1922 in Hoboken, NJ, the son of immigrants Frank and Agnes (Nachtigal) Polich. He married Mary Alex on May 22, 1955 at our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Ridgewood, Queens.
Frank was a dairy farmer who had purchased Nelson and Laura Winne's Decatur farm in 1960. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester and the Cornfield Slovenian Hall in Fly Creek.
Frank loved his vegetable and fruit gardens, hot soup he and Mary made, and friend Gail Sondergaard's brown eggs. He was a skilled welder and iron worker who could fix or build anything. He loved looking out his kitchen window at the wildlife in his yard and fields. He enjoyed playing his accordion, listening and dancing to polka music, watching old westerns, and reading. Some of Frank's sayings: "Make sure you eat--it should be something hot," "I like to watch things grow," "Go easy on the gas," then on cold winter nights, "Would you like me to make you a hot toddy?," "Na zdravje" (to your health), and "Lahko noc" (good night).
Frank is survived by his wife, Mary, and his children, Richard Pavlick, Elaine Pavlick (fiancé Mark Klenz), Janet (Don) Brigham, and Diane (Joe) Fedor; several grandchildren; cousin Hank Pavlick of Florida; sister-in-law Johanna (Fred) Golja; and other relatives as far away as Slovenia.
Frank is predeceased by his brother, Stanley Polich.
Mary, Richard, Elaine, and Mark cannot thank Dr. Douglas DeLong and their home health aides enough for all of the care that they provided to Frank.
A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m., Saturday May 9, 2015 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester with Rev. Ronald Green, MM, as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in loving memory of Frank to the Worcester Hose Co., PO Box 191, Worcester, NY 12197, Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820, or St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester, NY 12197.
