Freda V. Laterra's Obituary
ONEONTA – Freda V. Laterra, 83, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born September 20, 1930 in Colesville, NY, the daughter of Willard and Myrtle (Kane) Vincent.
Freda married Carl (Shorty) Laterra November 1, 1949 in Oneonta. He predeceased her on April 30, 2000.
After high school, she completed her formal education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the first graduating class of Fox Hospital School of Practical Nursing. Freda worked many years for Dr. Hans Wilk, after Dr. Wilk's retirement she then worked for the A.O. Fox Nursing Home for 12 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and nurse. She loved working with people and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia and Gary Graver of Oneonta and Patricia and John Nazzitto of Norwich; her sister, Doris Lane of Fernandina Beach, FL; a sister-in-law, Edith Armstrong of Oneonta; and several nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, October 17th at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, October 18th at the funeral home, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Hospital, officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
