Obituary

Maryland – Frederick Matthew Adair, 72, passed away at home on May 4, 2022.

He was born November 5, 1949 in Oneonta, the son of Robert Gordon and Rita (Friery) Adair.

Fred graduated from Andrew S. Draper Central School, Schenevus.  He married his high school sweetheart, Kathrina Houghton on September 4, 1970.

He was a United States Navy veteran, serving from 1968-1972 as a Boatswain Mate.

Fred retired from Amphenol in Sidney after 34 years of employment.   He was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, working in his yard, playing cards and spending time with his family.  He enjoyed watching the Weather Channel and his Western movies.  He most especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and love for all his dogs both past and present.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathrina Adair; his children, Tina (Brad) Brundege, Kurt Adair and Ina (Ron) Howland; grandchildren, Alex, Dylan and Leah, Ashley (Zach) and Courtney (Geoff); great-grandsons, Elliot and Oliver; his brother, Robert (Eileen) Adair; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Pat Rice.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Schenevus VFW/Vets Club, 25 Main Street, Schenevus.
