WORCESTER - George F. Griffin, 77, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at his winter residence in Haines City, Fla.
He was born December 27, 1932 in Peekskill, NY, the son of George and Mildred (Mead) Griffin.
George married Gwendolyn Webb on July 12, 1953 in South Lancaster, MA.
He was a medic in the United States Army.
George was an area resident for 52 years and owned and operated Cash Oil in Worcester.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn; 2 sons, David Griffin and George Griffin Jr. and his wife, Melody; 5 daughters, Cheryl and her husband, William Ferris, Laura and her husband, Roger Butler, Cynthia and her husband, Joseph Chesko, Linda and her husband, Paul Wiener and Bonnie and her husband, Timothy Marine; his sister, Barbara and her husband, Les Slater; his half brother, George William Griffin; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a loyal employee, Timothy Tompkins.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St. in Worcester with the Rev. Donald Bozarth, officiating.
Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Russell Mead Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
