George Edward Partelow
May 24, 1930 – April 24, 2016

WORCESTER – George Edward Partelow was born in Ossining-on-the Hudson, May 24, 1930. He spent much of his childhood playing and visiting, Uncle Shulie, a soldier in charge of armaments at West Point. As a teenager he would often bike all the way from Ossining, over the Bear Mountain Bridge again, to visit West Point. First job he worked as a yard fireman at Harmon New York Central System.

At age 23, be became Corporal G.E. Partelow 559th Infantry Rifle Platoon United States Army. During the Korean War he was chosen and served proudly in the "Berlin Honor Guard" Andrew Barrack, Germany.

He married Marjorie Selena Valentine in 1958. They had two children for whom he has a "quiet, inalienable love". He moved this family to Somers in 1968, where he had built their new home, along with much of it's furniture. He was a 52 year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Building many of his rods from cork to tip, "carving his catch" in wood, with brother Donald beautifully mounting others for him. He is a past member of Birch Brook Rod and Gun Club, where he was chosen Sportsman of the year 1976 for a 13 lbs Brown Trout.; president of Somers Sportsman 1981; past member Crumhorn Rod and Gun Club, Maryland; Cherry Valley Fish, Game and Forest Club; and the National Rifle Association of America.

On April 24, 2016, George joined with God and his mom and dad, Anna Ruth and George Aaron Partelow; sister, Dolores Mae Curry, Cayuga; brother, Donald Richard Partelow, Worcester; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy Davies and Frank Eli Valentine as well as his treasured friends of yore.

George is survived by his wife, Marjorie, Worcester; his son, Scott Edward, Sag Harbor; his daughter, Melanie Elizabeth, Worcester; his sister, Marjorie Eva and Charles Ackert, East Worcester; sister-in-law, Carole Jean Partelow, East Worcester; sister-in-law, Isabelle Mary Bonadies, Worcester; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Mary Valentine, Brewster and Thomas and Mary Valentine, Carthage. Leaving as well, many dear and loved cousins, nieces and nephews, young and old, new friends, all "thank you for filling me". Oh yes, besides loving us, 'n God, 'n his Country, he loved his yorkies, pitching horseshoes, trapshooting, growing brussel sprouts, making pickles, baking fruit cake, taking pictures, telling stories of adventure 'n mischief, "pulling you leg" and WHISTLING!

If you will, please always give your "thoughts" and when you can, your thanks to those whose generosity, strength and skills, minister to us all in time of peril and in time of need. They are here and they are near, bringing with then a "Quiet, Precious Expedience"! They were the men and women of the Worcester and East Worcester Fire and Emergency Squads. Thank you!
