ONEONTA - Gordon A. Daley, Sr., 91, passed away November 26, 2016 at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

Gordon was born February 7, 1925 in Oxford, NY, the son of Leo and Edna (McMullen) Daley.

Gordon married Beverly Baker on August 16, 1946 at Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta.

A veteran of the United States Army, Gordon saw action in the Pacific Theater during World War II.  As a member of the 81st Infantry Wildcat Division, he was with the early forces occupying Japan in the fall of 1945.  He was honorably discharged in February 1946 as Staff Sergeant.

Gordon was employed at Bendix/Amphenol as a machinist for 36 years.

He was an active member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church for many years.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, Gordon Daley Jr. (Wendy) of Poland, NY, Susan Turner (Richard) of Walton, and Nan Scanlon (Don) of Oneonta; grandchildren, Christopher Daley (Kamree) of Victor, Kathy Rachon (Tim) of Poland, and Alicia, Emily and Erin Scanlon of Oneonta; great-grandchildren, Shane and Kennedy Daley of Victor; sister-in-law, Bernice Daley of Wells Bridge; brother-in-law, Don Baker of Carlisle, PA and several nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the staff at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the loving care given to Gordon and the Daley family.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Elm Park United Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut St., Oneonta, with the Pastor Donna Martin, officiating.

Interment with military honors will be 11 a.m., Friday May 26, 2017 at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
