LAURENS – Gwendoline May Decker, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hosptial, Oneonta.
She was born April 1, 1921 in Epping , England, the daughter of John & Maria Ethel (Wright) Brewer.
Gwendoline was a British Army veteran serving during World War II.
She married Millard Dutcher, he predeceased her in 1968. She later married Charles Decker who predeceased her in 2005.
Gwendoline and her first husband, Millard formally owned and operated Edgewood Golf Course in Laurens. She was also known to be an expert seamstress, knitter, and wonderful baker.
She is survived by a son, Rowland Dutcher of Gaithersburg, MD and a daughter, Valarie Dutcher of Laurens; grandchildren, Joleane Robinson of Oneonta and Jared Robinson of Dubai-United Arab Emirates; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Corbyn, and Aleah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and in England.
She was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Ken Zulkosky, associate pastor at Main Street Baptist Church, officiating.
