STAMFORD - Harold I. Bailey, 83, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Robinson Terrace in Stamford.
He was born on March 25, 1928 in Worcester, the son of Lavere and Lilly (Woodbeck) Bailey.
Harold married Audrey C. Sampson on October 17, 1956 in Oneonta. She predeceased him on March 31, 2005.
He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was briefly stationed in Okinawa.
He was a bus driver for OPT in Oneonta.
Harold was a lifelong area resident who enjoyed playing many musical instruments including the organ, guitar, accordion and harmonica. He could fix anything and loved to drive any kind of vehicle.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Liz Shaver and her husband, John of Unadilla and Mary Jacobsen and her husband, Jake of Cobleskill; his son, Larry Bailey and his wife, Tammy of Otego; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his brother, Donald Woodbeck of East Worcester and his beloved dog, Bubba.
Calling hours will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz Street in Oneonta
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, retired, officiating.
Burial will be held at the Otsdawa Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
