Oneonta – Harold F. Lent, 96, passed away on November 4, 2018 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born January 14, 1922 on Colburn Ave. in Otego, the son of Frank George and Nancy Ulena (Hammond) Lent.
Harold graduated from Otego Central School in June of 1939.
He married Bernice Ida Briscoe on January 15, 1943 in Otego. She predeceased him July of 1953. His second marriage was to Christine Scrivener on July 23, 1955 in Gilbertsville. She passed away in June of 2016.
Harold was a farmer for 10 years, then worked as a Process Planner for 31 years at Bendix Corporation in Sidney. He lived in Morris for 4 years, Otego for 3 years before moving to Oneonta.
Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta, Sidney and Oneonta Bowling Association for 50 years and was the secretary for the Oneonta Bowling Association for 14 years. Harold was also a crossing guard for the Oneonta School District for 28 years.
He is survived by his children, Robert and Nancy Lent of Oneonta, Kathleen and Jerry Parsons of Sharon Springs, and Jeffrey and Deidre Lent of Unadilla; grandchildren, David and Ruth Parsons, Daniel and Chris Parsons, Amy and Andre' N'guettia, Ryan Lent and Tori Hansen, Thomas Lent, Robert and Sandy Lent; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Lucas, Jacob, Alec, Max, Katelyn, Ashley, Jonathan; great-great grandchildren, Mia and Trenton; several nieces and nephews, and Bogey the cat.
He was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Marissa Parsons; brothers, Elmer and Kenneth Lent and sisters, Irene Beames and Gladys Nichols.
The graveside service at the Evergreen Cemetery in Otego will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019.
