Obituary

OTEGO – Harriet Helen Smith, 77, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at The Otsego Manor.

She was born January 30, 1932 in New York City, the daughter of Anthony and Nora (Connors) Kelker.

Harriet graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer Academy in New York City in 1949. She was a dedicated employee of Eastman Kodak in New York City of 25 years.

She married Adelbert Smith on June 19, 1976 in Irvington.

Harriet was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta.

One of her greatest attributes was being able to make people laugh. She loved spending time with family and friends and playing weekly card games with "The Girls".

She is survived by her husband, Adelbert Smith; 5 step-children and their spouses, Thomas and Carol Smith, James and Linda Smith, Eileen and Patrick Passaretti, Robert and Kathleen Smith and Maureen and Bob Angilletta; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces; 1 nephew; a brother-in-law, Thomas McDonald; friends, Sr. Eileen Treanor, Edith Reimer, special friends, Marion Hoelzer and Dottie Federline and many others.

She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Anna Barbarino and Kathleen McDonald.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with the Father Joseph Benintende, as celebrant.

Interment will be at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale on Monday, September 28, 2009
