Heinz W.
Rumenapp
January 10, 1947 – July 29, 2020
ONEONTA - Sadly, but peacefully, Heinz passed away at his home.
He dedicated his life in the line of duty first as a military police officer from 68-71 and then as an Oneonta Police Officer from 72-89.
He was known for his hard work ethic, his sense of humor and his generosity. He had many friends, enjoyed hunting, won a marksman competition, collected guns as a hobby and earned an award from the mayor for saving someone's life by administering CPR. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family on his boat on Goodyear lake in the summertime.
Heinz was predeceased by his father, Henry and mother, Hilma, who both came to America from Germany at young ages.
He is survived by his two sons, David and Christian; three siblings, Richard, Frank and Zilla; two stepdaughters, Christal and Jessica; nine grandchildren Haley, Ethan, Ben, Cera, Braden, Briahna, Damien, Deidre and Ziva; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
May Pop rest in peace in a pain free afterlife. Thank you for everything and know you will always be missed and loved.
A memorial service with military honors will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Oneonta Veterans Club, 279 Chestnut St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Paul Messner officiating.
