WORCESTER – Helen Milavec Golja, 87, of Worcester died Friday, March 9, 2007, after suffering a long illness.
Helen was born August 17, 1919 in Meadowlands, PA to Frank and Antoniya Koren. The family eventually moved to East Worcester.
Helen married Stanley Milavec on September 30, 1945. Stanley passed away at the age of 50. After his death, Helen moved in to the town of Worcester where she continued to work at the Worcester Market. She started this career in 1964 and it didn't end until 2003 when she was 83 years old. She will be most remembered for her love of people.
Helen was also married for a brief period to Frank Golja of Watertown, NY. They were later divorced.
She is survived by her only child, Donald G. Milavec of Denver, Colorado, his wife Evelyn and two step-children along with two grandsons. She is also survived by her sister, Jennie Maher of Hyndsville, NY, and a brother, Larry Koren. Helen was predeceased by her parents Frank and Antoniya Koren and brothers, Stanley and Frank Koren.
A Memorial Celebration of Helen's life is 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 at E. J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Worcester.
