North Franklin – Henrietta "Etta" Barrett, 83, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 24, 2010

She was born July 4, 1927 in Brooklyn, the daughter of George and Henny (Breden) Thies.

Etta married John "Jack" Barrett on January 9, 1949 in Brooklyn. He predeceased her on October 15, 2009.

She grew up in Brooklyn, spending the majority of her life in Massapequa, and retiring to North Franklin.

Etta loved spending time with her family, of whom survives her; her children, Kathy Barrett of Franklin, Jim Barrett of Bethpage and John Barrett of Colorado; her grandchildren, Dawn (Bruce) Bookhout, Michael Rosenbusch, Anne Marie (Mike) Murphy, Melissa Rosenbusch, Megan (Bryan) Wilton, Jim Barrett Jr., and John Barrett Jr.; "The Great Ones" her great-grandchildren, Brittany Barrett, Travis Bookhout, Alyson Bookhout, Desiree Rosenbusch, Tara Bookhout, Sara Rosenbusch, Colin Hamm and Isabella Barrett; a brother-in-law, Bill (Marie) Barrett of New Jersey; and dear friends, Bill and Debbie Gilmer.

She was predeceased by her parents and her granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Barrett.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Ouelout Valley Cemetery in Franklin, with Allison Jay Bookhout, the Spiritual Care Coordinator, Catskill Area Hospice, officiating.
