Worcester, NY – Henry W. "Bud" Cooley, 85, of Worcester, passed away, Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born on July 20, 1921 in Oneonta, NY, the son of Elmer and Lulu (Bennett) Cooley and nephew of Hunter and Ethna Reid.
He married Jane MacDuff on August 24, 1946 in Schenevus, NY. She predeceased him on January 18, 1994.
Henry served in the United States Army. Henry was a social studies teacher at Worcester Central School for 18 years. He retired in 1983 from Director of Career Development at SUCO.
Henry was a member of the Worcester United Methodist Church, the Worcester American Legion Post 1584, and Southeast Otsego Rotary District 717, past District Governor of Rotary International, Paul Harris Fellow, and Board Director of the Penska Foundation, former Board of Directors of Pathfinder Village Foundation and retired Faculty Association of SUCO.
He is survived by a son, William and his wife, Catherine (Grantier) Cooley of Hamburg, NY; a daughter, Jeanne (Cooley) and her husband, Thomas Ferris of Byron, Minn.; four grandchildren, Nathaniel and Nicholas Cooley, Michael Ferris and Thomas and his wife, Melisa Ferris of Kasson, Minn.; a sister, Eloise Frazier of Little Falls, NY and several nieces and a nephew.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Worcester United Methodist Church, Main Street, Worcester, with the Rev. Jane Pykus, pastor, officiating.
Interment with military honors will be at the Schenevus Cemetery following the funeral service.
Calling hours will be held Friday, September 8, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m. At the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main Street, Worcester.
