EAST WORCESTER - Herman M. Stubbe, 95, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 14, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family and is now with our Lord.
He was born August 16, 1914 in Hempstead, the son of Herman F. and Anna (Wolfe) Stubbe.
Herman was a United States Army Air Corp veteran serving during World War II from December 18, 1941 to September 3, 1945 as a B-24 airplane and engine mechanic 747, obtaining the rank of Sergeant.
He married Olive Dobbing the love of his life on April 10, 1944. She passed away in 1979.
Herman was the proprietor of Long Island Piano Company in Setauket. He was a piano technician and tuned for the New York Orchestra. He brought the joy of music to so many people through his work and fixing their pianos.
He is survived by his children, Jeanne E. and husband, Charles Ritter of Martinsville, IN, William H. and wife, Diane Stubbe of Lancaster, VA, Dorothy E. and husband, Alexander J. Mauro of Worcester, NY; grandchildren, Billy Stubbe, Dr. Christine Stubbe, Edwin J. Mauro, Nicole E. Mauro, Billy James Ritter, Lisa Ann Wyatt and Charles K. Ritter Jr., many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Diane Schultz.
Herman was predeceased by a son, Edwin Richard Stubbe and close friend and companion, Eunice W. Smith, one brother and four sisters.
A private service was held.
Interment with military honors will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Stony Brook, NY.
