Obituary

Oneonta - Imogene F. Colvin, 84, passed away at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

She was born on July 3, 1926 in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Edmund and Emily Murphy Stapleton.

Imogene graduated from Oneonta High School. She was employed by the Stamford Central School District in the audio-visual department. Above all, Imogene was a lifelong artist. Her portfolio of works began in high school and she continued to create pen and ink sketches throughout her life. During her later years and for the remainder of her life, she created artwork for her own enjoyment and for the benefit of others, donating her art to charity.

Imogene was an avid outdoorswoman and traveled extensively throughout the world. Her most memorable journey was her trip to China, which she said made her feel more culturally aware. She continued to enjoy her retirement as a resident of St. James Manor, where she made many friends and her artwork was displayed and appreciated.

Imogene was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Charles Colvin and her sister, Mary E. Crowe.

She is survived by her sister, Norine Quick and niece, Jill Mode, both of Fairfax, Virginia. She is also survived by niece, Patricia Crowe and three great nieces, Jill Ann Mode of Fairfax, VA, Tom and Karen Cuyler Oliver of Oneonta and Chris and Jackie Cuyler Jones of Schenectady; three great great nieces, Christina and Abigail Jones and Annabella Ager and two great great nephews, Clark Oliver and Cameron Mode. Imogene was also survived by many special friends whom she touched throughout her life.
