Worcester – James D. Mowers, 56, passed away at his home on March 8, 2026, following a long illness.
He was born May 19, 1969, in Oneonta, the son of Douglas J. and Sharon (Sperbeck) Mowers. Jim graduated from Worcester Central School and later attended nursing school. He was at one time employed at Corning, served as a phlebotomist, and worked as a CNA at A.O. Fox Hospital and Chestnut Park Nursing Home. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time at the cabin.
He is survived by his daughters: Aimee Valdes and her children, Aurum, Archer, and Miles, of South Carolina; Victoria (Daniel) Hopkins and their children, Abigailynn, Avianna, and Alexzandria, of Texas; and Sorchia Mowers of Worcester. He is also survived by his partner of 20 years, Alicia Griffin, and her children, Isabella and Brent; his mother, Sharon Herzog; his sisters, Susie Baker and Diana Hughes; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Douglas Mowers; his stepfather, Charles Herzog; and his grandparents, Lucius and Mildred Mowers, and Orville and Hilda Sperbeck.
A Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Rus Underwood officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
