Obituary

Janet A. Horth, 70, of Oneonta New York, after a long battle with several work related illnesses,a short bought with cancer, which she won, finally succumbed to
complications from her medical
treatments, on September 26, 2009, while at home.

She was born on January 23, 1939, the daughter of Harold G. Oliver and Florence G. (Marble) Oliver
in Oneonta, New York. Her father and her mother both predeceased her, as did her beloved stepmother
Helen O. Oliver. Her love of the outdoors probably came from her father, whose early years were spent growing up in the last log cabin in Delaware County.

She married her high school sweetheart Gerald N. (Jake) Horth on July 28, 1957, who also predeceased her in February 1994.

Survivors include: Her son, Gregory Horth and wife Debbie of Hartwick, N. Y. Her Daughter, Julie Breitmaier and husband Todd of Oneonta, NY. Her Daughter, Wendy Horth of Oneonta NY. She is predeceased by her son, Jeffery Horth.

Her treasured grandchildren: Jonathan Horth of Hartwick, N.Y., Joshua Horth and Cheryl Downey of Connecticut, Jacob Horth of Hartwick, NY., and Cayce Breitmaier of Oneonta, N.Y.

Janet is also survived by her two devoted sisters, Madolyn (Carver) Palmer, Of Oneonta, New York, and Betty (Donald) Hooks of Voorheesville, New York, also by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Foster of Morris.

Janet graduated from the Oneonta High School in 1956. Her favorite school sport was volleyball.
After Graduation she worked as an operator for the New York Telephone Co. Next she worked for the admitting office of A.O. Fox Hospital. After several years there Janet worked for KCK plastics
of Oneonta, where she operated molding machines and later became their Bookkeeper. In 1974 she went
to work for Corning until she was injured on the job in 1995. One of the things she was most proud
of was being elected President of the Local Flint Glass Workers Union for six years, joining the
National Executive Board, and then joining the International Executive Board and lastly being appointed as lifetime member. Janet and her husband Jake spent many hours preparing for and working on union issues.

Janet was a woman who loved the outdoors and liked to travel. She enjoyed many hours of camping and
boating with family and friends. She finally achieved her lifetime desire to have a lake-side camp on Goodyear Lake, where she spent many enjoyable hours with her children and grandchildren.

Janet's true love was country music and was Neal McCoy's top fan. Her greatest thrill was going
to his concerts and getting to meet him on several occasions.
