LAURENS – Janet L. Ploutz, 59, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 23, 1950 in Oneonta, the daughter of Richard and Elinor Jane (Townsend) Ploutz.

Janet was employed at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Astrocom Electronics and retired from KMS Plastics.

She loved to collect Cape Cod dishes. She also loved animals, and never turned away a stray. Janet enjoyed her family deeply and was a great mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived her mother, Jane Townsend Montgomery of Maryland; two daughters, Sandra and Robert Lent of Morris, and Ellen Schaffer and John Scott of Laurens; grandchildren, Ashley Lent, Jacob Rowe and Jerry O'Dell; her brothers and sisters, Nancy Phinney of Tampa, FL, Richard Ploutz Jr. and Cindy, of Oneonta, Louis Ploutz and Brenda Chambers of Laurens, Susan Santice and James, of Sidney Center, Donald Montgomery and Noreen, of North Carolina; step-siblings, Raymond, Linda, David, Terry, Jeri Lyn Clapper; step-mother, Joyce Ploutz; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; friend and care giver, Angela Fairbairn and special friend, Nancy DeLong.

She was predeceased by her father, Richard Ploutz Sr.; brother, James Russell Ploutz; step-father, Millard "Zip" Montgomery and step-mother, Joan Lighthall.

Calling hours will be at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Steven Fournier, pastor at the Milford Center Community Bible Church, officiating.
