WORCESTER – James M. Burton, 35, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 due to injuries sustained in a logging accident.
Jimmy was born February 9, 1975 in Cooperstown, the son of Henry M. Burton Sr. and Myrna L. (Adair) Burton.
He graduated from Schenevus High School, Class of 1994. Jimmy was the owner of Burton Logging. He took great pride in his wood business, choosing selective cuttings to preserve the woods and always thinking to the future for his boys and the land.
Jimmy, better known as "Slim", was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to be in the woods camping, hunting, fishing and ice fishing. He was also known as The King of Horseshoes, when his game was on, there was no beating Slim.
Jimmy leaves behind his beloved family; his fiancée, Sally Fullington of Worcester, their sons, Jordan James and Zachary Thomas Burton; his parents, Henry & Myrna Burton of Westford; his siblings, Herb Burton of Westford, Hank Burton of Westford, Bob Burton and Gina Sutton of Westford, Don and Wendy Burton of Westford and Barb and Scott St. John of Needham, MA; aunts and uncles, Les and Rocheal Burton of Westford, Alice and Art Morrell of East Worcester, Charlene Jeffers of Richmondville and Geraldine and Vince Manzella of Warrington VA.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by grandparents, Charles and Minnie Burton and Orrin and Ruth Adair; an uncle, Sonny Burton, and a nephew, Nicholas St. John.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 20th at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21st at the Westford United Methodist Church, with the pastor Lawrence Russell and the Rev. Frank MacCracken Jr., officiating.
Interment will follow at the Westford Cemetery.
