Mt. Vision – Joan M. Bush, 79, passed away at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, on May 16, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

She was born November 8, 1943 in Oneonta, the daughter of Leonard and Marie (Vandermark) Wheeler.

After graduating from Oneonta High School, she met and married the love of her life, Douglas Bush on August 18, 1962.

In addition to being a loving wife and devoted mother, she always worked outside the home.  She held office positions at Sears & Roebuck, Hartwick College, The Village Printer in Laurens, Ferguson Auto Supply, Drogen's Electric, Unatego Central School, and Gregory Plumbing & Heating.  With her husband, she helped coordinate Tom & Doug's Cruise-In for many years.  She was an avid seamstress, had a part-time upholstery business and in her "spare" time, Joan loved to cook, read and garden.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Doug Bush; her daughter, Peggy Bush and fiance Tim Allen of Mt. Vision; her brothers-in-law, Leslie (Doreen) Bush and John (Mary) Bush; many nieces, nephews and special friends; and her faithful companion, Buster.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Leonard (Helen) Wheeler Jr., Ted (Carol) Wheeler, Jesse (Ruth) Wheeler, Richard Wheeler; her sisters, Ethel (Doc) Knapp, and Nancy Angelotti; her in-laws, Walter and Olive (Spoor) Bush, Wayne (Joan) Bush, Donald (Ellen) Bush and a nephew, Donald Bush Jr.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

A private interment will be at Mt. Vision Cemetery.
