Obituary

EAST WORCESTER – Joan M. Ray-Kuhr, 58, passed away Sunday, September 23,
2007 at Bassett Healthcare Hospital in Cooperstown.



She was born January 17, 1949 in New Berlin, the daughter of John D. and
Catherine Margaret (Ryan) Ray.



Joan was raised in Brookfield and was a graduate of Brookfield Central
School. She then moved to Bridgewater where she raised her family and
was a member of the Bridgewater VFW auxiliary. In 1991 she moved to
East Worcester.



Joan married Frederick W. Kuhr, who predeceased her on January 6, 2001.



Joan was a registered nurse, working for Hospice Care, the Waterville
Nursing Home and later as an independent care giver.



She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and is survived by her
children, Bradley W. Ray and wife, Georgetta of McAdoo, PA; Stacey
Piercy and her husband, Mel of Schenevus; and Kelley Jones and her
husband, Eric of East Worcester; grandchildren, Jessica and Joseph Ray,
Roger and Brandon Dixon, Alyssa and Alexia Piercy, Autumn and Kaylynne
Jones, and with an addition on the way; her mother, Catherine Ray of
Waterville; a brother, David Ray and his wife, Mary of Brookfield;
sisters, Gloria Ray of Waterville and Alice Randall and her husband,
Willard of Frankfort; and many nieces and nephews.



She was predeceased by her Father in January 1980; and her sister, Estelle
Burdick in December 2004.



A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 29,
2007 at 5 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, in Worcester,
with the Rev. Paul Messner, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the
Atonement, Oneonta.
