Schenevus – John Loudon Arnold, 85, passed away March 4, 2020 at Cooperstown Center, after a brief illness.
He was born December 25, 1934 in Schenevus, the son of Forrest and Nellie (Loudon) Arnold.
John graduated from Andrew S. Draper Central School, Schenevus. He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1955-1957 within the security agency.
He married Eleanor Rasmussen at the Schenevus United Methodist Church.
John held several jobs, most notably he worked 30 years at Wilber National Bank retiring as Assistant Vice President. He then started working for the Town of Maryland as an Assessor for almost 20 years until he became ill. He loved the Town of Maryland and his job, working with community and also sitting on the Board of Review. He was a past member of the Rotary Club. John was member of Schenevus United Methodist Church where he was on the Board of Trustees.
John loved to fly fish and idolized his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Arnold of Schenevus; daughter, Suzanne and Jim Figary of Schenevus; son, Stephen Arnold and fiancée, Mystie Williams, of Kennesaw, GA; "number one grandson" Thaddeus and Kayla; "wonderful granddaughter" Nellie; his brother, Richard and Gladys Arnold of Florida; his sister, Rosemary and Bob Price of Texas; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Gary Arnold.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at the United Methodist Church, 66 Main St., Schenevus, with the Rev. Kathy Brumbaugh, officiating.
