ONEONTA - John Robert Cook, 34, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2013, joining his father, Frank Saviour Cook, who predeceased him in 1991.

John was born in Queens, NY on May 10, 1979, moving to Westford, NY when he was 3 years old. He loved 'the farm' and the country. As a child, he always helped his Dad on whatever project he was doing. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, animals, and drawing. John graduated from Schenevus Central School in 1997, while attending school he loved sports and participated in as many as he could.

John was also an avid chess player for years.

He loved the time he could spend around Michael and Savannah and attended as many of their sports activities as possible. He enjoyed family trips to West Virginia and loved being on top of the mountain where he found happiness and peace.

In recent years he spent much of his time reading and studying the Bible.

John is survived by his mother, Reva (Bennett) Cook Baldwin, and stepfather, Claude, Oneonta, NY; his brothers, Frank Saviour Cook, IV and companion, Amy Kraisser, Vinita Park, MO; Eric David Cook and wife, Elisha, Chesapeake, VA ; unofficially adopted brother, Christopher Balbuena and wife, Sabrina, Voorheesville, NY; stepbrother, Michael Baldwin and wife, Sandra, Sidney, NY; stepsister, Mary Anne Tucker and husband, Scott, Longs, SC; nephews, Michael Baldwin and Wyatt Tucker, nieces, Savannah Baldwin and Ariana Balbuena; grandmother, Eleanor (Plumley) Bennett, Beckley WV; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours are from 11 am-12 Saturday, May 18, 2013 at River Street Baptist Church, 133 River St., Oneonta followed by funeral services at 12 noon with the Rev. Mel Farmer, pastor, officiating.

His remains will be buried in the family cemetery in WV.
