DAVENPORT – John Charles Ehrhard, Sr., 65, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta, after a long fight with cancer.
He was born October 17, 1946 in Oneonta, the son of Theodore and Gloria (Roberts) Ehrhard.
John graduated from A.L. Kellogg Central School, Treadwell in 1965.
He worked 14 years at the Oneonta Wal Mart, retiring in March of 2011.
John was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing in Otsego Lake.
He is survived by his beloved companion, Victoria White of Davenport; his mother, Gloria Ehrhard of Treadwell; a sister, Gail Miner of Grand Gorge; a brother, Bruce Ehrhard of Treadwell; his children, Lorraine Kozo of East Brunswick, NJ, John C. Ehrhard, Jr. of Oneonta, Christine Danielsen of Somerset, NJ and Denise Laarz of Lawrenceville, NJ; grandchildren, Julie, Hayley, Farrah and Steven Kozo, Morgan Ehrhard, Sebastian Thompson, Ava, Jenna and Joseph Danielsen, Brenna O'Leary; great-grandson, Nicoli Capelluti; his aunt, Betty Hill of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Theodore Ehrhard in 1985.
Calling hours will be held at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 1 to 2 p.m. and the memorial service, 2 p.m., with the Rev. Werner VanLoey, pastor at the Calvary Full Gospel Fellowship in Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, at the family's request, donations may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
