Miskell, Jr.
June 26, 1948 – February 16, 2022
Maryland – John R. Miskell, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully February 16, 2022 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown after a long illness.
He was born June 26, 1948 in Oneonta, the son of John R. Miskell, Sr. and Joan (Ackley) Miskell.
John married Darlene VanDeusen on August 25, 1972 at the Elm Park Methodist Church in Oneonta. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50 th Anniversary in August.
John drove a tractor trailer for many years. He also worked in construction, driving a cement truck until his retirement. John then opened and operated M&M Electronics, a retail sales and repair shop for 25 years.
John loved going fishing and to stock car races. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports and racing. He enjoyed playing chess and was an avid card player.
He is survived by wife, Darlene Miskell of Maryland; his daughter, Michelle and husband, Richard Francis of Worcester; his son, John and wife, Nicole Miskell of Schenevus; grandchildren, Kaelyn and husband, Trevor Pillmore, Chase Francis, William Miskell and Kacie Ost, and Morgyn Miskell; a great-grandchild, Blair Pillmore; sister, Jaquie Neeley; brothers, Robert Miskell and Patrick Miskell; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Meow Meow.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Michael Miskell.
A celebration of John's life will be announced later this summer.
