Otego – John G. Puylara II, 71, passed away on January 4, 2021 at the family home in Otego.

He was born October 22, 1949, the son of Carl Puylara Sr. and Sophia (Sobers) Puylara, of Galinn's Jewelry Store.

John graduated from Oneonta High School and then entered the military where he was a Marine.

John was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. His beloved cat Scooter and tropical fish are in the care of his daughter Alexis.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Puylara; parents, Carl and Sophia Puylara; and his sister, Joanne Puylara-Boyd.

He is survived by his children, Alexis Puylara and her significant other, Landon Cullipher, Kerry Ann Puylara, all of Otego, Erika Puylara, Dan Puylara and Brooke Puylara-Davidson, all of Florida.

The family would like to thank the local EMS for their kindness and compassion. They would also like to thank Walt and Sally Nichols for their friendship and support.
