Obituary

SCHENEVUS – John "Jack" Richard Kirkpatrick, 74, passed away January 15, 2013 at his home.


He was born August 17, 1938 in Plainfield, NJ, the son of John and Ethel (Woodrow) Kirkpatrick.


Jack graduated from Milford Central School, The Manlius School and Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake. He also attended Hartwick College and the University of Syracuse.


Jack was a United States Army veteran, serving with the Security Agency from 1961 to 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1967.


Jack has owned several businesses, Siding Bus in Hempstead, the Elm Inn & Village Liquor Store in Milford and Esso Tower in Cooperstown. He at one time was a employed by Berry Motors, Pontiac, Cadillac, Buick in Cooperstown as a sales rep., D.A. Walstrom, Engineering & Surveying in Wurtsboro as a crew chief and cartographer, and the Town of Oneonta as a Zoning & Code Enforcement Officer, Constable, Court Bailiff and Deputy Town Clerk.


Jack was known for his dry sense of humor. Some of his happiest times were spent working on his sister and brother-in-law's farm in Otego and his trips to Black Lake.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hanna Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Hanna Kirkpatrick, Taylor Pushkar, Emma Burr, Ian Burr and Kala Swatling; a sister, Marygrace Rosen; nephews, John Kirkpatrick Rosen and Robert Woodrow Rosen; a niece, Amy Kirkpatrick Rosen and a very good friend Carol Smith and by many cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother-in-law, Charles Rosen.


A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
