John R. Wilcox, died December 3, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Formerly of Westford and Worcester, he was born April 15, 1935; the son of John E. and Dorothy A. (Thomas) Wilcox at Cooperstown.
He attended school in Schenevus and Worcester and was a graduate of Worcester Central.
In October 1958 he married Dawn Hillis at Worcester.
John was retired from New York Central Mutual, previously employed at Met Life and Cooperstown Insurance Agency.
He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, woodworking and time at the Worcenevus camp.
He is survived by his wife, daughter Cheri Pomeroy, son Mark (Sarah) Wilcox, grandchildren Steffaney and Nathaniel Wilcox, Alicia Pomeroy, brother –in-law William Dormandy and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Allie M. and brother-in-law Werner Stickel and sister Irene Dormandy.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Worcester Fire Department or Worcester Emergency Squad, of which John was a former member.
