John A. Wilder
DAVENPORT – John A. Wilder of Davenport lost a battle with cancer and died on Monday, July 17, 2006.
He was born in Lowell, Mass. into a large family and was the youngest son.
John was a most interesting man. He was an ordained minister, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He had a deep faith and a love for God's word.
In his secular life he was a small business owner, a prize-winning photographer, and a person of outstanding humor and energy.
He is survived by his beloved family, his wife, Marie Wilder; Carol Wilder the mother of his children, Marlene, Michael and John; his brothers, Kenneth, Paul, Robert, Richard and Arthur; sisters, Mary and Shirley; step children, Eric and Tim and his grandchildren, Andrew, Christian and Ksenia; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Catherine Wilder.
John chose to be cremated, so there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, West Oneonta, where all are welcome.
John requested that only a modest number of flowers be sent and contributions be made to the Oneonta Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3985 Route 23, West Oneonta, NY 13861.
