Schenevus-
Joseph J. Althiser, 60, passed away unexpectedly February 25, 2009 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

Joe was born March 26, 1948; the son of Roy and Catherine (Carentz) Althiser in Worcester, NY.

Joe and Barbara Jacob were married in Schenevus on November 23, 1984.

Joe was a lifelong area resident and a man who took great joy in life and good people. He will be remembered for his integrity, generosity and hard work. He cared dearly for his family, friends and community.

Joe was at one time the Mayor of Schenevus, Captain of the Schenevus-Maryland Emergency Squad, President of the Otsego County Fireman's Association and a member of many area organizations including: Schenevus Fire Department, Schenevus Masonic Lodge,6th Ward Athletic Club and he enjoyed his long association with Austin's Auction.

Joe worked for the General Electric Company in Schenectady for more than 20 years. He then followed in his late father's (Roy Sr.) footsteps in the electrical field and went on to become a Master Electrician.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 24 years; his mother, Catherine; a twin brother, Roy of Worcester and many relatives.

Joe was a full organ donor and at his request there will be a celebration of his life later in the summer.
