Obituary

Joseph A. Fedor of Worcester died peacefully Monday, May 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born on July 13, 1954 in Cooperstown, the son of Marie and Andrew Fedor.

He grew up on the family farm in Decatur. Joe graduated from Worcester Central School in 1972 and enlisted in the United States Air Force, then joined the New York Air National Guard where he continued to serve for many years. He attended Cobleskill Ag and Tech, Clarkson University, and Nyack College, and held degrees in chemistry and science. He traveled extensively during his career with the Air National Guard and some of his fondest memories were of his time spent in New Zealand, Antarctica, and Greenland. His best and longest stories were of his work adventures.

Joe married the love of his life, Diane, on May 22, 1982. They built their home in Decatur, adjacent to his childhood farmland, where they raised their three children. Joe was a devoted father who never missed a horse show, ball game, concert, or other event in which his children participated. Joe retired from the military and started working as a local mail carrier, making friends with everyone along his route. He kept up the family farm and had many different animals over the years. He loved being on a tractor and working in his vegetable garden, which got bigger every year. Joe’s greatest joy was becoming “Peepa” to grandchildren Joseph, Hazel, Tanner, Oliver, and Noah.

Joe is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Bill and Jess, Jim and Sam, and Megan; and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Annette Bulson and Leo and Georgette Fedor, brother-in-law Jack Schultz, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Andrea Schultz, and brother-in-law, Al Bulson.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester, NY.

Interment will take place at a later date in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY.
