SCHENEVUS – Joseph Schoeberl, Jr., 80, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at home.
He was born March 28, 1932 in the Bronx, the son of Joseph Sr. and Mary (Janovy) Schoeberl.
Joe worked on the family dairy farm in partnership with his parents and then with his brother, Frank, for over 50 years.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schenevus and then St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester.
Joe was an avid hunter and was known as "Eagle Eye" by the older hunters. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling. His interests were politics and recently he traveled to many meetings to become more educated in shale gas explorations and the environmental impacts it would have on the future generations.
He is survived by his two nephews, whom he enjoyed spending time with; Mike and wife, Candy (Howard) Schoeberl of Brockport, and Jeffrey and wife, Tina (Mravlja) Schoeberl of Worcester; grandnephews and a grandniece, Frankie Schoeberl, Jacob and Elyza Schoeberl; a sister-in-law, Shirley Schoeberl of Schenevus and his cousins, Betty Schoeberl, Karl and Dianne (Fais) Schoeberl, Timothy Schoeberl, Joe Schoeberl and Erika Schoeberl.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother, Frank Schoeberl.
Calling hours will be held 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester
A funeral mass will be held at Noon, Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Konaku Kuusegmeh, as celebrant.
Interment will follow at the Schenevus Cemetery.
