Joseph "Jody" Donald Rifenbark, Jr, 58, of Oneonta passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.

Jody was born in Delhi, NY on April 7, 1959. He is the son of Janet and Wayne Hanvey. He spent most of his childhood growing up in Otego, NY and later residing in Oneonta, NY.

Jody was very friendly, always wanting to help others. Jody worked many jobs and took great pride in his work. He loved Elvis, country music, and attending and working at the county fair. He loved going on vacations; especially going to the lake with his family where he enjoyed boating, fishing and cookouts. He had many aspirations and dreams. He dreamed of being a truck driver (Drive on Jody). He came from a very close family and is loved dearly.

He is survived by his loving family; parents, Janet and Wayne Hanvey; sisters, Judy (Arlu) Whitaker, Jackie Finch (Ralph Lawyer), Jean Hanvey and Patricia (Patrick) Patton; nephews, Brenton (Nicole), Stacey, Garrett, Drew, Joe (Casey); Nieces, Brittney (Cody), Danielle (Lucas) and Liz; great-nieces, Bailey and Sophea (his little pumpkins). He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Jody's family would like to acknowledge two very special caregivers that were like sisters to Jody. The love and compassion that Barbara MacIntyre and Paley Lampropoulos gave to Jody is truly appreciated. He is predeceased by his biological father Joseph Rifenbark, Sr. Jody will be sadly missed, may he live on in our hearts and memories.

Friends and family are invited to Calling Hours at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz Street in Oneonta on Thursday February 22, 2018 from 11am – 12pm. A Funeral Service will commence at 12, following the calling hours, with Pastor Keith VanDewerker, Officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Delhi.
