EAST WORCESTER – Joseph Fiederer, "Joe The Barber" 83, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Otsego Manor in Cooperstown.
He was born October 28, 1928 in Yugoslavia, the son of Josef and Magdelina (Kaufman) Fiederer.
He married Iona Cole on December 26, 1954 at St. Anna's Catholic Church in Summit.
Joe owned and operated Joe's Barber Shop in East Worcester for 51 years. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, the Worcester Grange, the East Worcester Fish & Game Club and the East Worcester Fire Department, where he was Fire Commissioner at one time.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Wegrzyn of Germany; 4 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; cousins, Frank, Paul and Herbert Fiederer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Iona Fiederer; his two sons, Anthony Fiederer and Eric Fiederer; his two sisters, Elezebeth Freihout and Katrina Brechelmacher.
Calling hours will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6th at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM, as celebrant.
Interment will be at East Worcester Cemetery.
