Obituary

MILFORD CENTER - Kendall F. Chase, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2011 with his family at his side.

He was born October 12, 1936 in Oneonta, the son of Kendall F. and Doris (Otto) Chase.

Ken was a graduate of Oneonta High School. During the late 1950's he was an accomplished coach in the Oneonta Little League organization.

He started working at NY Telephone Co. on May 15, 1956 and retired on December 31, 1991.

Ken married Marjorie Reed on October 27, 1963 at Stamford, NY.

After retirement they loved traveling in their motor home. In 2001 Ken and Marge took a cross-country trip and he enjoyed the beauty in everything they saw. They also took one of their favorite trips this past June to Massena, New York to watch the ships go through the Eisenhower Locks. They had not missed, in 27 years, the NYS Woodsman's Field Days in Boonville and were looking forward to going again this year.

Ken's greatest pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He loved the family gatherings at each holiday and birthday celebration. He also loved and enjoyed their family pets through the years including the latest little Shih Tzu, Robin. Ken took great pride in his home, flower, vegetable gardens and grounds.

Ken is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Milford Center; children, Michael and wife, Kimberly Chase of Milford Center; Amy and husband, Dennis Coulman of Oneonta; grandchildren, Joseph Lawton, Hannah Lawton and fiancé, Dereck Ruling, Andrew Lawton, and their dad, Rusty Lawton; Kaley and Serena Chase; great-granddaughter Leah Ruling; sister, Rebecca and husband, Robert Morris of New Hartford, NY; sister-in-law, Barbara Chase of Murrells Inlet, SC; uncle, Robert Otto, of Schenectady, NY; cousins and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Richard Chase.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Milford Center Cemetery, with the Rev. Stephen Fournier and the Rev. Betsy Jay, officiating. A celebration of Ken's life will follow at his home.

As a tribute to Ken, donations may be made to the Milford Emergency Squad, which has been of invaluable help in the past months, PO Box 359, Milford, NY 13807.
