Worcester
On October 17th, 2012 Kenneth Vincent Bengtson of Upcounty Road,
Worcester, NY passed away at 80 years old after a long term illness.
Kenneth was born on August 15th, 1932 in Merrick, NY. He was the
son of Ture and Hanna Bengtson of Sweden.
He served four years in
a construction combat unit for the US Army during the Korean war.
He was a graduate of Worcester Central School, Grier Technical School
for Diesel Engines and a member of the International Union of Operating
Engineers. He worked on projects such as the Gilboa Dam, the Mass Pike,
the Northway, the Albany Plaza and many others. He finished his career
working close to home and family by maintaining highway equipment for
the town of Worcester. In Ken's early years he designed many beautiful
ponds in the local area. Ken was an extremely clever yet humble man,
his strength of character and strong guidance will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
On October 18th, 1960 Ken was married to Sofran I. Dedek. They were married
for 52 wonderful years. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife;
his son, Brian Kenneth Bengtson and wife, Tracy; his daughter Joan;
his granddaughter, Dayna; his grandsons, Zachary Kenneth, Dustin Rudolf
and Benjamin. Ken is also survived by his brother, Clifford and wife, Vileita;
nephews, David, Eric and Mark and also his sister, Faith.
Calling hours will be held at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester,
Wednesday, October 24th, between the hours of 6 and 8 pm.
