ONEONTA – Kenneth W. Rogers, 91, passed away Friday, November 30, 2007 at A.O Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
He was born March 25, 1916 in West Laurens, the son of Truman and Nellie (Cogshell) Rogers.
Kenneth married Virginia Thompson in 1950.
He was an United States Army veteran serving in World War II.
Before his retirement, he worked for NYSEG, retiring as a line foreman.
Kenneth was a honorary life member of the NYSEG Quarter Century Club; also a member of the BPOE for many years, the American Legion, VFW and was a honorary member of the Oneonta Fire Department.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football, games and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Rogers; a son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and Barbara Rogers of West Oneonta; grandchildren, Rhonda and Bill Van Shufflin of Oriskany, Renee and Jim Konicki of Voorheesville; great-grandchildren, Katrina and Shannon Van Shufflin, Victoria and Adam Konicki; a brother, Harold Rogers of Ohio and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Flora Lull and two brothers, Dr. Arthur Rogers and Lewis Rogers.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta. An Elks Club Lodge of Sorrows Service will begin at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service with military honors. Deacon, James Konicki will be officiating.
Interment will be at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
