Obituary

East Worcester – Larry W. Anteman, 78, passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2024 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born October 25, 1945 in Oneonta, the son of William and Helen (Hill) Anteman.

He graduated from Worcester Central School.

Larry married Pennie Meyer on March 20, 1966 in Charlotteville.

He was a proud United States Navy veteran from 1966-1970.  He proudly served in Vietnam aboard the USS New Orleans as an Aviation Support Mechanic.

Larry worked at his father's business, Anteman's Garage, from the age of 13.  He eventually bought the business and owned and operated it for over 50 years.  Anteman's garage was in operation for over a century.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Magistrates Association, and Retired Police Association.

Larry felt honored to have served the Town of Worcester in a multitude of roles including Town Town Justice for over 20 years where he earned a reputation for fairness and understanding.  He was also proud that his decision prevailed in the only two appeals files during his tenure.

His experience in running his own business served him well as Town Supervisor.  Of his several accomplishments in that office, Larry took particular pride in the purchase of the land where the new Worcester Town Highway facility was built.

He is survived by his wife, Pennie Anteman; son, Craig Anteman; granddaughter, Audrie A. Anteman; sister, Joanne McGirt and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents; daughter-in-law, Tracie Anteman, and sister, Betty Hill.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at Bud's Place, 9556 State Highway 7, Worcester, NY, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle officiating a remembrance.

The interment with military honors will be at 11 a.m. June 3, 2024 at the East Worcester Cemetery, State Highway 7, East Worcester.

Larry recently learned about the importance of St. Jude Children's Hospital and would be honored to know that donations would be made in his name at www.stjude.org.
