ONEONTA – Lawrence R. "Larry" Norton, 65, passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2006 at his home.

He was born April 8, 1941 in Oneonta, the son of Wilson and Thelma Norton.

Larry graduated from Andrew S. Draper Central School in Schenevus. He was a long time employee at The New York State University at Oneonta College in the maintenance department, from where he retired.

He was a member of the Oneonta Moose Lodge. Larry was an extremely kind and caring person and an amazing father and poppy. He was very generous and when anyone needed anything he was always there for them.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina and her husband, Tom Riordan of North Blenheim and their children, Tyler, Timothy and Totianna; his son, Daniel and his wife, Jodi Norton of West Davenport and their children, Robert of Oneonta and Benjamin, Jessica and Meghan of West Davenport; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Sicksch.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2006 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta, with the Rev. William Robert Thompson, pastor at the Schenevus First Baptist Church, officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service.
