MARYLAND – Laura Staats, 38, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2010 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born December 19, 1971 in Cooperstown, the daughter of Raymond L. and Lenora M. (Roe) Woodbeck.
Laura married Frederick D. Staats on August 29, 2000.
She was a LPN at Spring Brook for 11 years. She loved being a nurse and caring for others.
Laura was a member of the Oneonta Women of The Moose. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and swimming.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick Staats of Maryland; her parents, Raymond D. and Lenora Woodbeck of Hartwick; her brother, Raymond Woodbeck and Barbara Dickenson of Fly Creek; her sister, Lisa and Richard Miller of Hartwick, and their children, Rebecca and Andrew; a father-in-law, Pete Staats of Milford; brothers-in-law, John and Wanda Staats of Maryland, Bob Staats of Milford, and Pete and Debbie Staats of Maryland; her beloved dogs, Lady Liberty, Flash, Duke and Rocky; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Helen Staats.
A celebration of life will be at the Oneonta Moose Lodge, 87 West Broadway, Oneonta on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 2 to 6 p.m. The Women of The Moose Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m.
