LAWRENCE D. HERRING Sr.

ONEONTA – Lawrence D. Herring Sr., 84, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born October 25, 1921 in Laurens. He was predeceased by his father, Addison Herring; his mother, Eva (Stanton) Herring Clark and his step-father, Bryant Clark.

Lawrence was an US Army Veteran. He served during World War II in the Persian Gulf Command and obtained the rank of Master Sergeant.

He married Pasqualina "Pat" Pignato on April 16, 1944 at St. Joseph's Church in Staten Island.

Lawrence was employed by United States Gypsum in Stony Point, NY for most of his life. For a short time he worked at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in the Accounting Department.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pat Herring of Oneonta; his children, Larry Herring Jr. and his wife, Laura of Oneonta and Lorraine and her husband, Gary Mannix of Richmond, Virginia. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Ann Herring Ploutz.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Duane and Marie Herring, Chris Eck, Jason, Jessica and Jenna Mannix and Jenevieve and her husband, Edward Jennings III; two great grandsons, Trystan and Tanner Jennings; and a son-in-law, Richard L. Ploutz Jr. of Oneonta.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2006 from 10 a.m. to the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Laurens Cemetery with military honors.
