Obituary

CHARLOTTEVILLE - Lee W. Madden, 81, of Charlotteville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 7, 2011.

He was born on April 2, 1929 in Harpersfield, the son of Willard and Edith (Bowker Nichols) Madden.

Lee was a United States Army veteran serving from 1950 to 1952 in the 101st Airborne Division, stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY.

He married Margaret Henderson on November 28, 1953 in Columbus, NY. She predeceased him on December 3, 2009.

After marriage, Lee become a self employed logger and excavator and sold maple products until 1972, when he began hauling canned milk, which evolved into hauling bulk milk. From 1978 until retirement, he worked in car sales and sales managemnt, including Gary Morgan Chevrolet, Inc. in Cobleskill, Roger Karns Ford, Inc. in Oneonta, and Rick Bell Auto Sales in Middleburgh.

Lee was a member of the Summit Grange and the Charlotteville Fire Department where he served as Commissioner for many years. He loved animals, the outdoors and caring for and mowing his lawn. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, socializing, camping and traveling. He also raised chickens. Most of all he loved his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Joy K. and her husband, Joseph Innace of San Antonio, TX. Joy's son (a grandson) Christopher L. Beardsley of Phoenix AZ. Christopher's son (a great-grandson) Tyler S. McKiness of Cape Coral, FL. Joy's daughter (a granddaughter) Laura J. Innace and her husband, Richard Ali of San Antonio, TX. Laura's daughters (great-granddaughters) Farrah J. Reyna and Allina J. Ali of San Antonio, TX. Lee's daughter, Penny Lee McInnis of Albany. Penny's children (grandchildren) Kyle M. Joyce (predeceased) and Megan L McInnis of Oneonta. Lee's son, Richard D.Madden and his wife, Betsy, of Charlotteville. Richard's son (a grandson) Kenneth C. Hotaling, Jr. of Carrboro, NC. Ken's sons (great-grandsons) Zachary Cooper of Summit, Kenneth Hotaling of Troy. Richard's sons (grandsons) Jamie L. and Eric S. Madden of Charlotteville. Lee's son, Randolph E. Madden and his wife, Larraine, Randolph's son (grandsons) Joshua R. and Jordan T. Madden, all of Margaretville. Lee's daughter, Jacqueline C. Madden and companion, Gerald Davis, Jr. of Schenevus. Lee's sister, Mary Ives of Worcester and many nieces and nephews.

Lee was predeceased by his parents; step-mother, Lena Mae (Payne) Madden; sisters, Hazel (Nichols) Hubbard and Elsie (Nichols) Gertz; and a brother, William Nichols.

A service with Military Honors for Lee W. Madden will be held at the Charlotteville Firehouse, Charlotteville, NY Sunday June 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM.

A celebration of the life of Lee and Margaret (Henderson) Madden (Jun. 11, 1931 - Dec. 3, 2009) will follow. Please come and share your memories.
