Lindsay Marie Harvey, 25, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 13, 2008 in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Born July 19, 1982 in Oneonta, NY, she was the daughter of Craig and Debra (Lynd) Harvey.
Lindsay was an Honor's Graduate of Oneonta High School, Class of 2000 and a member of OHS Honor Society and OHS Varsity Swim Team. She graduated from Binghamton University in December 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. She began her career at AFDIL (Armed Forces DNA Identification Lab) in February 2004. She earned her Masters of Science Degree from the University of Florida in August 2006. In addition to working at AFDIL, Lindsay taught Forensic Science Classes at Frederick Community College and tutored middle school and high school students in biology. She also participated in middle school science fairs and proctored a middle school extra-curricular activity called "Mad Science". She was a true scholar, who love to learn and loved to teach.
Throughout her life, Lindsay enjoyed traveling everywhere and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was extremely close to her family and selflessly shared travel opportunities with her two younger brothers and parents.
Lindsay loved water sports. As a teenager she worked as a lifeguard. She enjoyed boating, swimming, parasailing, scuba diving, family trips to the Finger Lakes, Gilbert Lake and the Caribbean. In high school she began scrap booking to memorialize her travels.
Lindsay was a gentle soul with a soft heart for animals. She regularly volunteered at animal shelters. She sadly leaves behind her dogs and constant companions Mykayla and Wheeler.
Also left behind are her Mom and Dad, Debra Lynd Harvey and Craig Harvey, her brothers, Lucas and Jordon Harvey; grandmother, Felicia Lynd; uncle and aunt, Donald F. Lynd and Deborah Farro-Lynd; great uncle and aunt, Bruno and Freda Scavo; cousins, Jennifer and Matthew Maison, Crystal and Nathan Morgan, Landry Rubino, and D. J. Lynd.
She was predeceased by infant brother, Robert Harvey, grandparents, Robert and Mary Harvey, grandfather, Donald F. Lynd, great-grandmother, Teresa Gentile.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta.
Services will also be held in Maryland at later date.
