Obituary

Laurens – Lori L. Hatalla, 52, passed away peacefully at her home on March 3, 2025.

Born on April 5, 1972, in Cooperstown, Lori was the beloved daughter of Charles R. and Zelda (Sitts) Smith. She graduated from Laurens Central School in 1990 and pursued her passion for aviation at the University of Pittsburgh.

On September 2, 1995, Lori married the love of her life, William F. Hatalla, in a ceremony held in Laurens. She devoted herself to raising their three children, Dominic, Kylie, and Bristol, nurturing their individual talents and encouraging them to reach their fullest potential. Lori's unwavering support and guidance shaped them into the remarkable individuals they are today. She was a constant source of love and support.

Lori's quick wit and infectious laughter brought joy to those around her. She cherished her time bowling with the Friday night league, where she formed lasting friendships and displayed her competitive spirit. She was also active with the Laurens Jaguars Color Guard, where her dedication and enthusiasm left a lasting impact.

Lori will be remembered for her kind heart, sharp humor, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She is survived by her husband, William F. Hatalla; their children, Dominic and his wife, Lauren Hatalla, Kylie Hatalla, and Bristol Hatalla; her mother, Zelda Smith; her father, Charles Smith; her aunts, Rita Knapp, Becky Welsh, Sharon and Willard Clapper, Mae VanAlstyne; many cousins; her parents-in-law, Peter and Bonnie Hatalla; and William's six siblings, and their respective families.

She was predeceased by her aunt, Barbara Delaney, and uncle, Bernie Sitts.

A time of visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service at 1 p.m.on Saturday, April 12, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, followed by a celebration of life reception at 2:30 p.m. at the Laurens Fire Department.
